Jogja as one of train operational zone (DAOP VI) in java have 3 train station : Tugu, Lempuyangan, Maguwo. Where is the older train station? Tugu? you wrong, because Lempuyangan established before. But because of the position of Tugu Station where is near Malioboro Street which very famous for tourists made lempuyangan not known well.
Today Economic Class Train will stop only at lempuyangan, Executive Class and Business Class will stop at Tugu, except Prameks (Business Class) which will stop at 3 train station in jogja.

1. Madiun brem --> It tastes mix between sweet and sour. And has white-yellowish colors.
2. Wonogiri brem --> This brem has white color with sweet flavor and it is easy to dissolve in water.
3. Bali brem --> It is in the form of liquid/ a kind of drink. It will be better if you consume it after having a meal.

All of those brem are made of fermented-sticky rice-water which also has gone through fermentation process.


Brem in solid form usually sold in market are Madiun brem and Wonogiri brem. These brem are very popular because of its delicious taste and its practicability. Brem’s sensation will appear when it comes in your mouth, then it melts and disappeared and leaving a unique taste in your tongue like a little mint flavor.

The result of experiment done by Winarno et al (1982) shows that the most chemical substance contained in solid brem are sugar, extract starch, and lactate acid. Solid brem is a good sugar supplier. In every 100 gram of brem contains 65.18 gram of sugar, so that it gives sweet taste and also as good power-supply for the body. The chemical composition of brem could be seen in the table.

Borobudur and Souvenir Market

stay in jogja -- The one which becomes the candidate of seven world wonder is Borobudur. It is a Buddhist temple which was builds on the 9^th century by syailendra dynasty.

OK let’s leave this history lesson.

Borobudur is located on the north side of Jogjakarta city. It is at Muntilan,Central Java exactly. To reach it, we can use some minibus which is written “Jogja-Borobudur” or “Borobudur-Jogja” on them. The cost is usually at about Rp 10.000. It can be started from Giwangan bus terminal – South Ring Road – West Ring Road – North Ring Road – Jombor bus terminal – Tempel and so on. While for the foreign tourist there are usually any vehicles provides by most of the Hotel to the Borobudur temple.

Borobudur is opened at 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. However, there is also an expensive ticket provided to the one who wants to see the sunrise there. As a comparison, the regular ticket is about Rp 12.000 – Rp 15.000 for individual domestic tourist while the ticket to see the sunrise is about Rp 200.000 per individual. The reason is that it has to be opened earlier and then snack, which is only coffee, actually. The cost for tourists from the hotel is possibly included in the board accommodation.

It needs a lot of energy to reach the top of the temple and goes around it. We are suggested to eat enough before going to have a trip around the temple. There is a myth that if there’s anyone who can reach the Buddha’s finger inside the temple on the top level, then all the wish of his/her would be fulfilled.

After traveling around, in past, we can go out without through the front side of Borobudur, but now you have to go around the temple to the souvenir market because the administrator does a kind of centralization of the sellers (they often sell without any organization). This is bothering enough after all.

However, above all those things, this is a great temple and it’s better to watch it on the morning or evening, because at noon, it will be very hot.

Note:

To an Rp 25.000 offered “brem”, you still can bargain it at least to only Rp 1000. If he/she doesn’t want, just leave them, because tough looked bigger, actually it only consists of 2 pieces 2 x 10 cm in size. It should be consisted of at least 2 pieces 4 x 20 cm in size. Even, if we don’t do bargain when they offer us, they will drop the price until Rp 1000 by their self. To check it, just shake the dos, when it sounds shrilly, it is absolutely in little size.

It does so to a Borobudur miniature, Buddha and so on. Firstly, they will offer at about Rp 25.000 per miniature, but then after walking far enough, they will offer the Rp 25.000 but for 4 kind miniatures. So, you don’t have to worry to bargain stuff as low as possible. If you brave enough, it’s guaranteed that they will drop the price.
